Promoting equality and pleasure in human sexuality for all people.

Unlocking the power of connection through pleasure.
Positive sexuality research focuses on ‘what works’ in sex.

Why? Because…

To ignore sexual pleasure in global health efforts is to present a conceptualization of sexual health that is unrealistic and disconnected from people’s experiences, aspirations, and concerns.

~ Global Advisory Board for Sexual Health and Wellbeing

93% of sex research focuses on sexual problems

In over 40 years of sex research, only 7% has focused on positive aspects of sexuality.

Our Solution

Is to focus on four key research priorities.

Pleasure Equality for Women

Women’s pleasure is poorly understood, with a gap between the pleasure women experience in sex compared with men.

To be equal in relationships we need to understand and promote women’s pleasure in sex.

Positive Masculinity

Many are struggling with the tension between masculinity and positive sexuality, resulting in pain, loneliness and confusion. We need to support men to understand and resolve this tension in order to experience more connection and pleasure.

Positive Touch for All

Touch starvation is increasing in our world, and the consequences are dire. We need to better understand and develop the capacity to give and receive positive sexual touch, which will enhance to personal health, pleasure and connection.

Clinical Tools

There is a scarcity of clinical tools that focus on the positive aspects of sexuality. PSI is dedicated to developing our understanding, and provide evidence-based sex therapy tools, that enhance sexual pleasure and connection.

What We Do

Positive Sexuality Research

We often hear about stress, anxiety, and mental health challenges in our conversations today. However, we sometimes overlook the importance of pleasure—the happiness and contentment that help us thrive. Our initiative focuses on the role of pleasure in our lives, with the goal of improving well-being for everyone.

Sexual pleasure is not frivolous or unnecessary. It is proven essential, for:

  • Relationship bonding and strength
  • Affirmation of life
  • Reduction of sexual risk-taking
  • Improved sexual health
  • Gender equality

Clinical Training

We provide clinicians information and intensive training seminars in the area of positive sexuality. As well, a variety of resources including  accessible assessment and inervention manuals, practical tools and online platforms will developed and made available.

Resources for Everyone

We offer articles, videos, seminars and information that explore what works for positive sexuality and offer helpful tips and tools from those in the know.
